Translation

Obv.

1–6                  [. . .] . . . [. . .] mountains [. . .] Elam [. . .] his/its property [. . .] their faces [. . .] exposing to the light of the day.

7–14               The enemy approached the Great Gate; he tore out the gate of Ištar-of-acceptance and toppled it over. Like Erra the unsparing he entered into the Great Court; he stood in the Great Court gazing at Ekur. He spoke, addressing (his) followers; he spat a blasphemous command to all his warriors: "Bring out the booty of Ekur, take its possessions; disrupt its order, interrupt its rites."

15–23           The enemy approached Iku, the seat of Ea. He destroyed [its] wall [. . .] before it/him. [. . .] Ešarra, [. . .] its protective spirit took fright. He vandalized [Ešarra] and carried off its cultic paraphernalia. He entered Eadgigi and removed what was supposed to remain hidden. The enemy approached the god Ennundagala with the worst of intentions. But when faced with him the god started to radiate light, he flashed like lightning, he shook on (his) pedestal!

24–29              The enemy became afraid and fled. There came his (the god's) nešakku-priest, and (the Elamite king) said to him: "Can it really be that the god started to radiate light and flashed like lightning and shook on (his) pedestal? [Appro]ach Ennundagalla, remove his ornaments! [Take] his [. . .]s, lead him away."

30–41           [The prie]st had no fear and was not mindful of (his own) life, [he did not] approach Ennundagalla, he did not remove (the god's) diadems. [(Therefore)] the Elamite enemy spoke what he thought necessary. The Elamite, a vile man, ordered torture. The enemy repeated the command to an officer, 'Let them bring the terrors of the wooden rack into Ekur. [. . .] . . . in the Great Court I shall torture the nešakku-priest!' [. . .] the officer executed the [order; in the Great Court he tor]tured the priest [. . .] yelling at him [. . .  deman]ding evil of him.

1'                     [. . .] upset the table of [. . .]

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2'–5'              When the ministering spirit of good spoke [. . .] the protective spirit of Esharra . . . [. . .] became afraid. The Elamite enemy hastened disaster, and Bēl let evil be plotted against Babylon.

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6'–9'             When the guardian spirit of the right stood aside, the protective spirit of Esharra, the temple of all the gods, became afraid. The Elamite enemy took its property, and Enlil who lived there became enraged.

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10'–17'        When the heavens changed their appearance, and eerie vapor and evil wind covered their face. The gods themselves became afraid and went down to the abyss. A fiery glow, an evil wind, surrounded the heavens. Anu, who had created them, became enraged. He diminished their luster and turned back(?) his heavenly station. [With the co]nflagration of Eanna he disrupted its regulations. [. . .] . . . Esharra, the netherworld shook.

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18'–23'            [. . . Enli]l(?) spoke destruction [. . .] . . . he became enraged. In Sumerian he commanded the break-up of Enlil's land: "Which one is Kudur-Naḫḫunte who brings disaster?" He summoned the barbarian hordes, he devastated the land of Enlil. He laid waste [. . .] . . . on their side.

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24'–29'          When Ezida's protective spirit became afraid and Nabû, the supervisor of all, sent out his [. . .-priest] hastily, he turned downstream to the sea. Ibbi-Tutu, when (lit.: who was) on the sea, hurried to the east. He crossed the sea and settled in a place that was not his own, and the rites of Ezida, that eternal temple, were deathly still.

                        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

30'–38'           The Elamite [enemy] got his chariot teams in order and set his face downstream to Borsippa. He hastened along the gloomy route and entered Borsippa. The evil man, the Elamite, demolished its shrine. The nobles [. . .]     . . . he killed with the sword. He carried off the plunder of all the temples. He got together their property and carried it off to Elam. [. . .] . . . he destroyed their walls. [. . .] . . . they filled the land [. . .] . . .
